Searchers are scouring beaches and the ocean for a woman last seen snorkeling near Black Rock in Kaanapali Thursday afternoon.

County fire rescue personnel and ocean safety officers were joined by the U.S. Coast Guard in the effort to find 54-year-old Tina Fox, of Colorado.

Fox was last seen about 150 yards from the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa wearing a blue swimsuit and fins at about 3 p.m.

At daylight today, the Fire Department launched it’s ocean rescue boat and lifeguards on jet skis searched the water and shoreline north of Black Rock, also known as Pu’u Keka’a. The Coast Guard and fire department helicopters searched by air.

Incident Commander and Fire Department Battalion Chief Kimo Kino described the ongoing search efforts as “tremendously cohesive” between agencies.

“It’s a tragic situation and the combined efforts of our department, the lifeguards, police, and the Coast Guard are out there to help this woman’s family locate their loved one,” Kino said.

Today’s search is expected to continue until nightfall tonight and if necessary, will resume tomorrow at daylight.
