Honolulu’s Michelle Wie rebounded from a bad second round to shoot a 1-under 71 today at the RICOH Women’s British Open played at the Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, United Kingdom.

Her three-day total of 1-over 217 left her in a tie for 17th. She trails 54-hole leader Yani Tseng (68—204) by 13 shots entering tomorrow’s final round of the last major for 2010 on the LPGA Tour.

Wie carded three birdies and two bogeys for the day. She was 1 under on the front nine with a birdie at the second and eight pars. The Punahou School graduate bogeyed the par-4 13th and par-4 16th, before closing with two birdies on her final two holes, both par-5s.

For the tournament, Wie has hit only 17 of 42 fairways and 41 of 54 greens in regulation. She’s needed 96 putts and is averaging 278.5 yards off the tee.
