Rock thrown at moving car injures woman on Kauai

A large lava rock thrown at a moving vehicle Wednesday night in Anahola injured a female passenger, knocking out two of her teeth, breaking her jaw and causing major lacerations to her face, Kauai police said.

Police arrested a 62-year-old Anahola man for first degree assault in connection with the incident. Michael Grace was released on bail.

Police said the four people in the gray Honda had been in a verbal argument near the Anahola Canoe Club.

Four people were in the car when the rock was thrown at about 6:35 p.m. Wednesday on South Aliomanu Road in front of the canoe club, police said.

 The victim was reported in fair condition at Wilcox Hospital.
