A Hawaiian cultural festival is planned for this weekend in Boulder, Colo., as college football teams from Hawaii and Colorado compete.

Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle proclaimed this weekend as “Colorado Aloha Festival Days” in celebration of the three-day event from Friday to Saturday, surrounding Saturday’s football game.

The festival features hula, ukulele, lei making and other workshops.

It also includes appearances by five-time Grammy Award winner Daniel Ho and Mauna Pohaku, who will perform with Hawaii dancers during the football game’s halftime show.

The free festival is now in its third year.

Lingle says the festival provides a unique opportunity to share Hawaii’s culture with the people of Colorado.
