The Hawaii Bowl announced a three-year extension with title sponsor Sheraton Hotels and Resorts in Hawaii that will provide the University of Hawaii a bowl opportunity through at least 2013.

The game will continue to match Hawaii, when bowl eligible, with a representative of Conference USA. A Western Athletic Conference team replaces UH in seasons when the Warriors are not bowl eligible.

The 2010 game will be played on Friday Dec. 24 and shown on ESPN.

The Warriors have played in five of the eight previous bowls, missing in 2007 because they appeared in the Sugar Bowl and in 2005 and ’09 because they were not bowl eligible.

“This partnership ensures a bowl opportunity for the University of Hawaii in the ever-changing landscape of collegiate athletics,” said Keith Vieira, senior vice president of operations for the hotel group.

The game is owned an operated by ESPN Regional Television.
