MCLOUTH, Kan. >> A Kansas high school football player has had part of his left leg amputated after breaking it in a game.

McLouth High School senior Trevor Roberts was injured Sept. 24 during a game against Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire.

Roberts suffered a compound fracture in his lower left leg. Complications from the injury required doctors to amputate Roberts’ leg just above the knee last week.

Jerrad Humerickhouse, who is Roberts’ guardian, said Roberts was doing well after a third surgery.
