Big Island police seek help in theft of $17,000 in farm equipment in Hakalau

Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in two thefts of farming equipment in Hakalau.

During the evening on Sept. 30, thieves stole two water pumps from one property and a harvester usually used for harvesting sweet potatoes from another location. The items have a combined value of $17,000.

Police ask that anyone with information about the items for the theft to call officers Donovan Kohara or Clive Okino at the Police Department’s nonemergency number at (808) 935-3311. Anonymous tips can be relayed to Crime Stoppers by calling (808) 961-8300 in Hilo or (808) 329-8181 in Kona.
