What’s better than a sizzling, build-your-own burger when you’re working into the night? The cast and crew of "Hawaii Five-0" got this meal treat the other eve when chef D.K. Kodama and his crew from the Counter at Kahala Mall grilled hamburgers for about 150 folks — actors, director, producers, techies — thanks to the generosity of restaurant partners Kodama and actor Daniel Dae Kim, Chin Ho Kelly on "Five-0," who is the lone lead who owns an eatery here. So aloha lives — one local business extending kokua to another — and it was Kim’s notion to take care of dinner, knowing the CBS crew would be working on episode No. 8 through dinner time, enabling Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin), Danny Williams (Scott Caan) and Kono Kalakaua (Grace Park) to get a taste of Chin Ho’s other life. …

Tomorrow’s episode, at 9 p.m. on KGMB9, is entitled "Lanakila" and will finally introduce McGarrett’s estranged sister, Mary Ann McGarrett (Taryn Manning), who arrives from the mainland amid a story involving an escaped prisoner who kidnaps a vacationing Waikiki couple. Balthazar Getty and D.L. Hughley guest-star. …

SIGHT ‘EMS: Morimoto Waikiki, the new dining palace of Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, has been hosting several nonprofits like Ballet Hawaii and Hawaii Foodbank, for fundraising charity dinners prepared by the master himself. Morimoto Waikiki, at the Waikiki Edition (the former Ilikai Yacht Harbor Tower), already has been attracting notables like actress Kelly Hu ("Scorpion King," soon on "Five-0"), Jon Seda ("Homicide: Life on the Street") and Japanese star Tadanobu Asano ("Zatoishi") with a grand opening set for next Sunday. Team Morimoto serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. …

Also prepping for a bow: Pablo’s Cantina, in the former Compadres space at Restaurant Row, has been hosting previews. Steve Hamile and his wife, Anthea, are the owners; he’s a next-generation entrepreneur, since his entertainer mom, singer-actress Manon "Sumiko" Smith, and his late dad, karate dojo Eddie Hamile, had an isle presence decades ago. Manon, a blonde who donned kimono when she performed, was the first Mrs. Hawaii. …

There were girls (and nuns) in white dresses with blue satin sashes, plus brown bags all tied up with bows and lots of singing along to Julie Andrews ditties when "Sing-Along Sound of Music" was screened at the Hawaii Theatre last weekend. The theater’s artistic director, Burton White, was spotted with Judy Murata, with snowflakes that stick on nose and eyelashes. No sightings, however, of a doe, a female deer. …

NAME DROPPING: Jack Johnson, Haleiwa resident whose life couples music with environmental philanthropy, will receive Billboard Magazine’s Humanitarian Award at the Seventh Annual Billboard Touring Conference & Awards Nov. 4 in New York City. Johnson and wife Kim are being honored for their environmentally conscious philanthropic projects that embrace school and community needs and promote green through the Johnsons’ Kokua Festival. …

ABC’s "Off the Map," the Shonda Rhimes series being shot here, could get on the prime-time map next month, in the slot once occupied by the canceled "My Generation" (7 p.m. Thursdays). The medical drama, set in an understaffed clinic in the Amazon, stars Zach Gilford ("Friday Night Lights"), who plays a plastic surgeon who falls in love with Aimee Garcia ("Trauma"), and a mounting ensemble. …

DATEBOOK: "Music with a Message," a freebie at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at Mission Memorial Auditorium near City Hall, is a gift from the National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii and composer Keith Haugen. The show assembles pakini master Frank Uehara, pianist Ron Miyashiro, singer-dancer Carmen U’ilani Haugen and trumpeter Stanton K. Haugen, and will spotlight Haugen tunes recorded by Ledward Ka’apana, Brittni Paiva, Diana Aki, Ohta-san and Kaha’i Topolinski, among others. …
