The state Department of Transportation is advising motorists to take alternate routes to Nimitz Highway today and tomorrow because of lane closures due to the filming of the movie "Battleship".

Nimitz Highway is closed in the town-bound direction between Valkenburgh Street and Elliott Street today and tomorrow from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Only the center lane will remain open.

Motorists on the H-1 Freeway are advised to bypass the Nimitz Highway Off-Ramp (Exit 15) and use the  Airport Off-Ramp (Exit 16). The far left or right ramp lanes will access Aolele Street.

Moanalua Shopping Center motorists should turn left onto Valkenburgh Street and turn right onto Radford Drive, Salt Lake Boulevard, Arizona Road and Camp Catlin Road.

A state Transportation Department spokesman said this morning that traffic on the remaining center lane was "moving smoothly."
