Santa’s been super busy, making his list and checking it twice. He’s been listening to all the Christmas wishes and keeping his elves busy working day and night. He’s also been watching kids closely all year long, and he knows who’s been naughty and nice. But with Christmas just a day away, we asked Santa to take some time out to answer questions from kindergartners at 2010 Blue Ribbon school Liholiho Elementary in Kaimuki.

How many elves do you have? — Teal Matsueda, 5
Santa: I have about 3,500 elves.

What does Santa want for Christmas? — Jayden Iwanaka, 5
Santa: I like to see kids get what they want for Christmas. That brings me joy.

How do you go to all the homes in one night? — Tristan Bunao, 6
Santa: The reindeer are pretty fast, and they get me where we need to go.

Why is your beard so long? — Gage Higuchi, 5
Santa: It gives the kids something to pull on.

Do you make toys for yourself? What kind? — Ziyun Li, age 5
Santa: No, I don’t make toys for myself. I make them for the kids … I have made a couple of nutcrackers for myself. I have a nutcracker collection.

Do you have a son? — Kenji Lim, 5
Santa: I do not. But Santa has all the kids in the world, and he enjoys spending time with them.

How do the elves make the presents? — Lauren Luttrell, 5
Santa: Mrs. Claus supervises them and makes sure everything they do is done properly. They get them done well and on time.

How do you get in my house with no chimney? — Eric Arikura, 5
Santa: Leave the kitchen door open and I’ll come through the kitchen.

Why do you say "Ho, ho, ho," not "Ha, ha, ha"? — Kainalu Roufs, 6
Santa: Well, I think "Ho, ho, ho" is more joyful.

Is the Tooth Fairy your cousin? — Journey Flores, 5
Santa: No, we’re not related.

How do the reindeer fly? What do they eat? — Soren Walker-Bray, 5
Santa: They eat reindeer food, and for them to fly, you’ve got to spread some magic dust on them.

Where do you buy your clothes? — Nathan Martin, 5
Santa: Mrs. Claus makes my Santa suits. I do some of the trim myself, with the bells on my belt and the tops of my boots.

Why do you live at the North Pole? — Kaheakulani Yahiro-O’Neill, 5
Santa: The reindeer have to be in cool weather, and I like the cool weather, too.

How do you fit all the toys in the sleigh? — Jayden Ito, 5
Santa: After you pack up the bags, you have to use that magic dust and then you deliver them all.

Why do you dress in red and white? — Kai Wang, 5
Santa: I think red is a really joyful color.

Do you snore? — Tatum Akimoto-Albarado, 5
Santa: I’ll be honest. I do snore.
