University of Hawaii president M.R.C. Greenwood will represent the school at upcoming Mountain West Conference meetings, while Manoa chancellor Virginia Hinshaw will oversee UH’s interests in the Big West and Western Athletic conferences, the school announced yesterday.

A UH spokeswoman said the Board of Regents has asked Greenwood to follow through on the transition to the MWC for football in 2012. Most of UH’s other sports will move to the Big West from the WAC in 2012 also.

UH said both will "brief the rest of the broader team as they go step by step."

For the previous nine years, the Manoa chancellor has been UH’s designated representative in its conference dealings.

Greenwood was part of the UH delegation that met with MWC commissioner Craig Thompson and conference officials in Colorado in November.

She also announced UH’s breakthrough agreements with the conference.

The MWC meetings are later this month.
