A 42-year-old Hawaii Kai man who allegedly hit and killed a motorcyclist two years ago in Kaaawa will be sentenced April 27 in Circuit Court.
Troy Matsui pleaded no contest last week to a third degree negligent homicide charges stemming from a May 17, 2009 incident, the prosecutor’s office said.
Police said Matsui was driving a 2003 Dodge Dakota pickup truck and was turning left into the Kaaawa 7-Eleven on Kamehameha Highway when he hit the Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Mark Lamm.
Police said Matsui turned in front of Lamm, 49, who was thrown from the motorcycle along with his passenger, a 10-year-old girl,
Lamm, who was not wearing helmet suffered critical damages including the amputation of his left leg, police said. He was taken to Castle Medical Center where he died.
Matsui, was served with a penal summons on Nov. 19, 2010, and pled no contest on Jan. 24.
