Jonas Umlauft put down a match-high 28 kills but it was not enough as No. 8 Hawaii lost to Brigham Young 25-20-26-28, 23-25, 25-22, 15-13 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball match in Provo, Utah, tonight.

Joshua Walker added 15 kills for the Warriors (12-11, 10-8 MPSF).

In the loss, Umlauft became the 13th player in program history to reach 1,000 kills and is the second to do so in just two seasons.

The Cougars (16-7, 12-8) got 26 kills from Robb Stowell in improving to 10-0 in Smith Fieldhouse. Taylor Sander added 17 kills and Kauai High product Futi Tavana 10, including the match ender.
