LAS VEGAS >> The roller coaster at the Sahara Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip has completed its last spin.

KVVU-TV reports the roller coaster was closed down on Saturday in preparation for the hotel’s closure on May 16 after nearly six decades in business.

Casino owner SBE Entertainment Group says it doesn’t make financial sense to continue operating the aging casino.

The Sahara opened in 1952 and is one of the last Strip properties from Sin City’s Rat Pack era. It was featured in 1960’s “Ocean’s Eleven” as one of five casinos robbed by a group of World War II veterans.
