Police arrested a 78-year-old Makiki man who allegedly threatened a 75-year-old woman with a meat cleaver and a cane in separate incidents.

The woman told police the suspect woke her up at 2 a.m. on March 5 and accused her of stealing his property. He allegedly raised a meat cleaver and threatened to kill her if his property wasn’t returned. The woman said she feared for her life and begged him to stop, police said. The suspect complied and left the room.

On Monday, police said the elderly man again accused the woman of stealing from him and chased her out of an apartment with his cane about 9:15 p.m. Police were called and the man was arrested from a Kewalo Street apartment building.
