The H-1 Freeway is closed at King street due to an overturned cement truck.

Honolulu police closed all Koko Head-bound lanes of the H-1 freeway for more than three hours because of an overturned cement truck near the King Street off-ramp.

Traffic backed up for miles as police routed traffic off the freeway at King Street and sent cars back on at the Kapiolani Street onramp. Police also routed street traffic up Waialae Avenue.

The accident happened at about 10:05 a.m. and the freeway reopened at about 1:25 p.m.

Police said a mechanical malfunction apparently caused the cement truck to swerve just past the King Street offramp and it hit two cars before overturning.

There were no serious injuries.

Firefighters cleared the road of cement before it could set and also cleaned up some diesel fuel before the freeway reopened.
