Hawaii County Fire Commission to consider 5 chief applicants

The names of five qualified applicants for fire chief have been forwarded to the Hawaii County Fire Commission for consideration in selecting a replacement for Chief Darryl Oliveira.

The applicants are: Aaron Arbles, Glen Honda, Gerald Kosaki, Paul Paiva and Darren Rosario

The Fire Commission has scheduled the public hearings and meetings to receive public input on all qualified applicants, and to interview them.  The meeting dates are: 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Department of Liquor Control conference room in the Hilo Lagoon Centre and 9 a.m. Thursday at the council room in the West Hawaii Civic Center.

Oliveira  has agreed to stay on as temporary fire chief on a volunteer basis until the next chief is selected.
