A mental health examination has been ordered for the former student charged with making threats against security staff at the Big Island campus of Kamehameha Schools.

Jeremy Costa is charged with first-degree terroristic threatening. Police say he allegedly made threats via Facebook that included references to the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting rampage and that "rent a cops must die."

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reported Wednesday the court has received one report from a Hilo psychiatrist and that Costa had not yet been seen by two other mental health professionals.

The judge granted the defense’s request for a bail reduction to $10,000 cash from $100,000.

Kamehameha Schools has been granted a temporary injunction to keep Costa away. The 18-year-old was expelled from the school in August.
