The westbound lane of Kalanianaole Highway near Sea Life Park Hawaii will be closed Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for repairs.

The recent heavy rains have caused erosion damage on the ocean-side foundation of the highway. The lane will be closed between Makapuu Lighthouse Road and Bell Street from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on those days.

State crews will be installing concrete Tuesday to stabilize and reinforce the foundation. On Thursday, crews will install new drainage for water flow, and landscaping matting to re-establish vegetation growth.

Traffic will be contraflowed through the remaining open lane. Motorists are advised to allow for extra travel time, the state Department of Transportation said.
