UK prosecutors: 4 men in court on terror charges

LONDON (AP) — British prosecutors have charged four men arrested in raids last week with preparing for terrorist acts.

The Crown Prosecution Service alleges Zahid Iqbal, Mohammed Sharfaraz Ahmed, Umar Arshad and Syed Farhan Hussain planned overseas travel, bought survival equipment, organized physical training and downloaded documents "containing practical instruction for a terrorist attack."

They are also accused of discussing "methods, materials and targets" for an attack and of collecting funds for terrorism overseas.

The men, aged between 21 and 30, are due to appear in court Monday. If convicted, they face a maximum of life in prison.

They are among five men arrested last Tuesday in the town of Luton, north of London. The fifth was released without charge.
