A late comeback attempt fell short and the Hawaii women’s soccer team lost at Eastern Washington 2-1 today.

Christy Watanabe scored off an assist from Chelsea Miyake in the 84th minute to cut the Eagles’ lead to a goal, but UH couldn’t manage a shot in the final 6 minutes.

Goalkeeper Kanani Taaca had a season-high eight saves, but 12 of EWU’s 17 shots were on goal compared to just four of UH’s 16 attempts.

UH dropped to 5-3-2 after losing both games on its Washington road trip. The Rainbow Wahine return home for their annual alumnae game on Sept. 23.
