Art & Flea brings market, entertainment to Makahiki

Art & Flea will take over Smith Street from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 17 as part of a larger Makahiki Celebration sponsored by Friends of Chinatown.

The market will feature more than 20 vendors of handmade and vintage items, clothing, art and crafts. There will be music, food, games and prize giveaways.

The regular monthly edition of Art & Flea will take place from 5 to 10 p.m. Nov. 23 — the Friday after Thanksgiving — at Fresh Café, 831 Queen St.

Ashtin Party is hosting the "Neon Black Friday" market, with DJ sets by KTUH, Boto Voyage, Jetboy and others, and music by Quadraphonix, Ninja-Pleeze, Hiriz and the Bougies. Also featured at the all-ages event will be live art by Chris Dowson, a photo booth and turkey bacon-eating contest.

Artists, designers and more will emerge for Studio Sale

It’s time for the annual Studio Sale (formerly the Sale at Jasmine Street), featuring designers and artists who offer their goods at only a few select events during the year.

The sale will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday at Palolo Hongwanji, 1641 Palolo Ave.

Among the items for sale will be jewelry by Deborah Kaneshiro, Candice Wakumoto and Akemi Ueda; artwork and collectibles by Kandi Everett; art, T-shirts and bags by Mari Sakamoto; ceramics by Marie Kodama; bags and fiber pieces by Kim Kono; home accessories and bags by Gary Fujimoto’s P55DLE; hand-painted clothing by Kim Messier; homemade chutney and jams by Gordon Edlin; and always-delicious baked goods and relishes from Sweet Charlotte.

Ease Collection has launched online sales of its organic cotton and bamboo face masks, sun sleeves, yoga apparel and tote bags at LeiHut.com.

The products are made at the company’s Kakaako plant.

The business was started six months ago by Denyse Ray.

Other local companies that sell their wares on LeiHut.com include Aloha Gourmet, Puna Noni, Bubble Shack Hawaii and Lei Woof, a handmade doggie lei designer.
