Hawaii Civil Defense will conduct tests of five warning sirens around Oahu today.

From 9:30 a.m. to noon, sirens will be tested at Aiea High School, Aiea Heights and Waimalu Elementary School. Sirens at Pearl City District Park and Palisades Elementary School will be tested from 1 to 4 p.m.

Residents in these areas may hear the sirens sound for 30 seconds during the testing.

Technicians will use data gathered from these tests to verify operational status and maintenance actions.

Testing will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday in areas yet to be identified.
