  • High surf and strong rip currents created dangerous conditions at Hanauma Bay Saturday and today.

Lifeguards and city officials have closed Hanauma Bay for the third straight day because of high surf and strong rip currents inside the reef.

Waves of up to six feet are making conditions dangerous for swimmers and snorkelers and underwater visibility is poor officials said today.

Lifeguards also closed the bay Saturday and Sunday because of similar conditions.

Officials recommend the area is near the Natatorium in Waikiki as an alternate snorkeling area.
