Kamilah Martin scored 18 points to reach 1,000 for her career and Ashleigh Karaitiana added a career-high 22 as the Hawaii women’s basketball team won 71-63 today at UC Davis.

Martin, who took over down the stretch for UH (8-9, 4-2 Big West), became the 17th Wahine hoops player to reach 1,000, and first since Keisha Kanekoa in 2011. She needed 16 points coming into the game to reach the milestone.

Laura Beeman’s team improved to 2-2 on the road in the BWC. The Rainbow Wahine next host Cal Poly on Thursday at the Stan Sheriff Center.

UH took a 37-36 halftime lead on a corner 3-pointer by Karaitiana. That matched her previous career-best 16 points at the break.
