Former University of Hawaii football kicker Daniel Ryan Kelly, known as “The Iceman,” has pleaded not guilty to charges that he sexually solicited a girl who is a minor.
Kelly, 26, of Temecula, Calif. was in Riverside Superior Court on Wednesday to answer to the charges of felony soliciting a minor for sex and misdemeanor annoying or molesting a child.
Kelly was taken into custody on Monday, after police learned of an alleged relationship between a 16-year-old girl and him, police said.
His preliminary hearing was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 13.
His bail was set at $25,000.
According to Murrieta police, Kelly is the junior varsity girls soccer coach at Murrieta Valley High School.
He was serving as a walk-on coach but was not a Murrieta Valley Unified District school teacher.
Murrieta police said it learned of an ongoing relationship between Kelly and a 16-year-old female student athlete and after an investigation, he was arrested and booked at a detention center on the charges.
The investigation is ongoing to determine if there are any additional victims, police said.
