Part-owner of M Nightclub pleads not guilty to assault

Nightclub part-owner Michael Miske Jr. on Monday denied assaulting Washington Redskins tackle Trent Williams at a Waterfront Plaza nightclub early Jan. 25.

Miske, 38, was charged Jan. 28 with second-degree assault. He is out on $250,000 bail.

Miske’s trial was set for the week of April 8 before Circuit Judge Michael Wilson.

According to police, Miske struck Williams, who was in Hawaii for the Pro Bowl, on the head with a dangerous instrument, reportedly a Champagne bottle, during a fight. The incident took place at M Nightclub, in which Miske owns a 20 percent stake. Williams was unable to participate in the game because of his injuries.

Two other men — Michael Buntendah and John Stancil — also were charged with misdemeanor assault in connection with the fight. They will be arraigned in District Court at the end of the month.

After the fight, police seized the Waterfront Plaza’s digital surveillance video recorder under a search warrant. The Hono­lulu Liquor Commission also is investigating the nightclub.

Miske, also owner and president of Kama­aina Termite and Pest Control, has an extensive criminal history that includes 10 convictions — six for felonies — dating to 1993.

He entered a plea of not guilty Monday in Circuit Court.
