KAILUA-KONA >> A Hawaii island man accused of accidentally running over his young son has been indicted on numerous charges including manslaughter.

West Hawaii Today says a grand jury indicted 38-year-old Pedro Peter on charges of manslaughter, as well as driving without a license, failure to have no-fault motor vehicle insurance, four counts of failure to have a child restraint and three counts endangering the welfare of a minor.

A $52,100 bench warrant accompanied the indictment.

The 3-year-old boy, identified as Joel Peter, died Jan 9. Police say the father ran over the boy after his sister apparently thought their father had parked the truck and opened the rear passenger door and the boy fell out. Police say the father continued up a driveway, running over the boy.
