U.S. marshals arrest British fugitive on Maui

U.S. marshals in Hawaii arrested on Thursday a British fugitive who had eluded capture for 22 years.

Salvador Orozco, 48, was wanted by British authorities for allegedly attacking and raping a woman at a bus station in 1990. According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Orozco fled the United States after the incident.

Last July, British Embassy officials asked the U.S. Justice Department for assistance in locating, arresting and extraditing Orozco.

On Thursday, the U.S. Marshals Hawaii Fugitive Task Force arrested Orozco without incident at a Puunene Avenue address in Kahului.
