HILO >> A Hilo police sergeant on the Big Island has been reprimanded for misconduct.

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald (http://is.gd/UpwTmQ) reports that the incident on May 31, 2012 involved Sgt. Darryel Tolentino.

In a letter to accuser John Tredre, Police Chief Harry Kubojiri stated that a review board had found there was sufficient evidence to sustain a portion of the misconduct charges against the officer. He says Tolentino has been disciplined.

Tredre says the misconduct occurred after he was arrested for drunken driving and placed in a cell block. He says he swore at officers, and Tolentino grabbed him by the hair and pulled him to the floor and kicked him in the side. He says he was slapped, stripped to his underwear and left half-naked in a holding cell.
