A 34-year-old Aiea man was charged Friday for allegedly threatening his girlfriend after she tried to break up with him.

Alesana Vaimasanuu, of Pono Street, was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening and two drug offenses. He was being held at the main police cell block in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Police said Vaimasanuu threatened the 33-year-old woman and forced her to get into her vehicle in Chinatown and drive for a few hours in the early morning Thursday. Vaimasanuu snatched the woman’s cellphone from her and flew into a rage after checking its contents, police said.

The woman was able to drive into a gas station and alert the attendant, who called police.

Officers arrested Vaimasanuu on Ward Avenue at 8 a.m. and allegedly found drugs on him.
