Kauai police reported that a 23-year-old motorcyclist slammed into a fire hydrant 10:18 a.m. Friday, causing water to gush up like a geyser.

Police said the man was pulling out of the Chevron gas station heading south onto Poipu Road in Koloa when he lost control of his vehicle and drove off the shoulder, hitting and breaking off the hydrant.

No one was injured and no other vehicles were involved.

Police diverted traffic and closed Poipu Road for about 10 minutes for the Department of Water crew to fix the hydrant.
