Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying human remains, believed to be that of man, that were recovered near the seaplane ramp on Ford Island on October 2005.

The partially clothed remains were analyzed and found to be a Caucasian male with a predicted age of 45 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet. The male had an injured knee and may have walked with a limp. Evidence showed that the man died on land before he was immersed in water several days later.

The partially clothed, badly decomposing body was spotted by a Navy contractor while he was working on Ford Island.

A Navy diver pulled the body from the water on Oct. 25, 2005.

The body was taken to Ford Island by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and then turned over to the city medical examiner’s office.

The age, race and gender of the body was not known at the time.
