The remaining 500 Haiku customers without power had their service restored early this morning after a power outage had initially left 5,000 customers in the dark Monday morning.

A fire on a pole caused the outage, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to HECO spokesman Darren Pai.

Power was restored to about 4,500 customers by 10:45 a.m. Monday. But the remaining customers, in the Hokulele and Crown Terrace subdivisions, had to wait until 1:00 a.m. today when the poles and overhead lines serving the area were fixed.
