Flood warning lifted, but threat of heavy showers remains

The National Weather Service has dropped the flash flood warning for Hawaii island early this morning, but forecasters say the chance of locally heavy showers will threaten the islands through midweek.
On Saturday, locally heavy showers put Oahu under a flash flood advisory for several hours in the afternoon and the northwestern area of Hawaii island under a flash flood warning during late-night hours.
While the flood bulletins have been lifted, the forecast calls for weakened winds and the chance of locally heavy showers through mid-week.
Tradewinds and more settled weather are not expected to return until next weekend.
Also, a high surf advisory for the south shores of all islands continues through 6 p.m. today, with waves up to 12 feet expected, and may be extended into Monday, according to the weather service.
