Maui County works on waterlines in Wailuku

Maui County expected to restore water service to residents on Nani, Loke, Wailani and Kaniela streets in Wailuku by 6 a.m. Thursday.

Water to people in the area was shut off at 7 Wednesday as part of a project that began in February and should be completed by October, county officials said in a news release. The department is replacing waterlines, which are undersized, to provide sufficient fire protection for the area. There will be additional shutdowns as the project nears completion.

Customers may want to flush their waterlines for a short time this morning to ensure that no sediment has accumulated during the project.

In addition, customers may call the 24-hour service line at 270-7633 only if a water problem occurs.
