Hawaii County firefighters contained a fire in a 2-story Kamuela house to a bathroom.

Firefighters arriving at the home at 65-1247 Laelae Way at about 7 p.m. Saturday saw heavy smoke coming out of the winds of the home.

Firefighters using portable equipment controlled and extinguished the fire in about 10 minutes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but firefighters said a possible origin was a power strip with an appliance plugged in next to the sink.

Firefighters opened windows and doors to ventilate the home and used a thermal imager to make sure no fire had spread.

No one was home at the time of the fire.
