The Coast Guard spent this afternoon searching for a possible missing diver after a dive float was discovered about 100 yards off Kahe Point’s Electric Beach.

The unanchored orange float — marked in black lettering with the brand name Hawaii Blue — was discovered by people aboard the passenger vessel Kai Oli Oli.

The Coast Guard dispatched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Barbers Point to look for the diver. The crew is coordinating its efforts with city Ocean Safety personnel.

The Coast Guard is asking anyone with information that may help identify the owner of the dive float to contact the Honolulu command center at 842-2600. Mariners in the area to keep watch for anyone in distress.
