Waipahu man allegedly breaks into cars, torches 1

A 31-year-old Waipahu man is in police custody after allegedly breaking into two cars Wednesday night in a Waimalu parking lot and setting one of the cars on fire.

Police said the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. 

The suspect was found hiding near the car fire and was arrested on suspicion of second-degree arson, trespassing, contempt and breaking into a vehicle. Second-degree arson is a class B felony with a maximum sentence of 20 years in jail and $25,000 fine.
