The U.S. Coast Guard helped a boat owner use inflatable devices to re-float a fishing vessel that sunk at the dock at Kewalo Basin.

A 35-foot commercial fishing boat sank at its dock at Kewalo Basin early Sunday morning.

Firefighters were called to the scene at about 3:45 a.m., but the boat had taken on too much water for firefighters to be able to pump the water out, said Capt. Terry Seelig, a spokesman for the Honolulu Fire Department.

Firefighters used containment booms to keep diesel oil from the boat from spreading.

Seelig said the Coast Guard will continue to monitor the situation.

The owner  of the boat “Deuces” is responsible for salvaging the vessel.
