Award-winning Internet cat videos from around the world will be screened at the Honolulu Museum of Art as an extension of the Minnesota-based Walker Art Center’s second Internet Cat Video Festival.

It is a juried event.

The online sensation known as “The Original Grumpy Cat,” won the “Golden Kitty” People’s Choice Award at the festival Wednesday night.

The Honolulu Museum of Art has scheduled 12 screenings of the film festival entries from 1 p.m. Saturday Sept. 7 through 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12.

Dozens of videos submitted from around the world in numerous categories including a video showcasing the Original Grumpy Cat, now a well-known Internet meme, will be shown during the screenings.

For #catvidfest, the museum will stage a cat costume contest on opening night, and during the festival run will stage an Instagram cat video contest. Details can be found on the museum website.

Admission is $8 for museum members and $10 for the general public.
