Crews aid 2 stricken hunters on Lanai

Maui fire rescue personnel airlifted two hunters in distress from the Mahana area of Lanai Saturday afternoon.

The two men, ages 57 and 63, were part of a hunting party that had hiked to an area above Shipwreck Beach.

According to a Maui Fire Department report, the 57-year-old man injured his back and the 63-year-old man was suffering from fatigue.

A rescue crew located the men and airlifted them to a landing zone. The 57-year-old man was then transported by paramedics to Lanai General Hospital.
