A Honolulu police detective is testifying at a military hearing to determine whether a Marine should be court-martialed on charges he murdered a prostitute visiting Hawaii.

Master Sgt. Nathaniel Cosby’s Article 32 hearing is being held today at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. The hearing is the military’s equivalent of a preliminary hearing in civilian court.

Dru Akagi testified Ivanice Harris was seen on surveillance footage outside a Waikiki bar with a  man the night she disappeared in May. Akagi says Harris texted her boyfriend and pimp that she was going to an Aston hotel.

Harris’ body was found in a barren brush in the Yokohama Beach Park area more than 30 miles from Waikiki.

Harris was originally from Oregon. She was visiting from Las Vegas to celebrate her 29th birthday.
