Ewa Beach man, 26, charged in cell-phone theft incident

A 26-year-old Ewa Beach man, who allegedly stole an unattended cell phone, was arrested and charged Wednesday morning, according to a Honolulu Police Department report.

Chance Gante is accused of taking an unattended cell phone while inside a Waikiki business.

Gante was charged with second-degree theft, a Class C felony.

The incident was caught on the establishment’s surveillance camera, and the suspect was eventually identified and arrested.

Gante’s bail was set at $15,000.
