The state Department of Transportation is alerting motorists that overnight re-striping on the H-1 freeway could change traffic patterns as the H-1 rehabilitation project continues in the busy freeway stretch between Ward Avenue and Middle Street.

The state will modify recent changes to the Kinau Street off-ramp of the H-1 freeway as early as tonight, DOT spokeswoman Caroline Sluyter said Sunday.

The re-striping will return the lanes on the freeway to more closely resemble its original configuration, Sluyter said.

However, the weather could delay any changes.

More re-striping is coming on the H-1 freeway between the Likelike off-ramp and Ward Avenue and signs will be going up to inform motorists about changes to the Liliha Street on-ramp.

Other changes will be happening overnight in the west-bound direction over the next two weeks.

The re-striping will allow crews to work safely during the day and will allow for fewer lane closures at night.

Motorists are advised to slow down and be aware of changes to traffic and ramp patterns and to be mindful of the workers on the freeway.
