Rescue personnel assist hikers on three Oahu trails

Fire rescue personnel were kept busy Monday morning aiding hikers at Maunawili, Diamond Head and in Palolo Valley.

Two of the hikers reported feeling ill and needing assistance.

The first was a woman who called for help after feeling ill at 11 a.m. while on the Maunawili Trail. The department’s rescue helicopter was called to airlift her to the Maunawilili Neighborhood Park.

At 11:09 a.m. another hiker requested help on the Diamond Head trail after feeling ill.

Then around the same time a third hiker reported an ankle injury while hiking near the Kaau Crater area and requested help.

Emergency Medical Services said the 46-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
