Prior to having its scheduled finale in the Kama’aina Classic rained out, the University of Hawaii softball team picked up a 10-1 win over Chaminade today at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Freshman pitcher Heather Morales allowed two hits, struck out two and walked five in five shutout innings and earned the win against the Silverswords. She walked three in the fourth inning, but managed to escape the jam. Sophomore Loie Kesterson struck out four in two innings of relief.

Leisha Li’ili’i went 2-for-2 and drove in two runs and the Rainbow Wahine won their third game of the tournament. Keiki Carlos, Kayla Wartner, Lindsey Willmon, Jori Jasper and Jordan Burton also paired hits.

In today’s second game, BYUH scored six runs in the top of the seventh to rally past Chaminade 7-6 in a matchup of Pacific West Conference rivals.

The scheduled finale between UH and BYUH was called off due to heavy rain.

The tournament closed UH’s fall schedule. The Rainbow Wahine open the regular season in early February by hosting Hampton, Delaware and UCLA in the Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic.
