Woman bitten by shark off Maui; injury not life threatening
A woman was taken to a hospital by ambulance Friday after being bitten by a shark at Keawakapu Beach, Maui County officials said. It was the seventh shark attack this year off Maui, according to hawaiisharks.com.
Maui County spokesman Rod Antone said the injury in South Maui was not life-threatening.
He said the beach in the Keawakapu area was closed until noon Saturday.
Maui County ocean safety official Cary Kayama said they received the call for help at 1:20 p.m.
