Colorado State Rams guard Hayley Thompson (3), left, and Hawaii Warriors guard Briana Harris (4) battle for a loose ball during the first half of a women's college basketball game between the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and the Colorado State Rams on Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

The Hawaii women’s basketball team played from behind Colorado State most of the way, survived to play overtime but fell behind again in a 65-60 loss to the Rams on Day 1 of the Waikiki Beach Marriott Rainbow Wahine Showdown.

CSU (4-1) had two players foul out in the extra period but the Rams went 6-for-6 at the line once the Rainbow Wahine (3-3) went to fouling in the last couple minutes of the extra period before a crowd of 1,028 at the Stan Sheriff Center.

UH temporarily survived a frantic finish in regulation which saw CSU’s Ellen Nystrom go to the line with a chance to win the game, tied at a 52 with 0.8 seconds left. Nystrom missed both at the line as the crowd yelled.

Senior forward Kamilah Jackson notched her fourth straight double-double in defeat with 17 points and 16 rebounds. But the Wahine shot only 28.2 percent to CSU’s 36.2 percent.

The Wahine continue play against UT Chattanooga at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
