A 59-year-old Pearl City man was killed crossing Farrington Highway at Aliinui Drive in Ko Olina Friday night, according to police.

Police said a 24-year-old Waipahu woman headed westbound on Farrington Highway in a 2011 Kia Forte struck the man, who was crossing Farrington Highway from north to south toward Ko Olina Resort, around 9:20 p.m. The man was not in a marked crosswalk, police said.

Police are investigating whether the woman was speeding, but said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash. The area was clear and dry at the time of the collision and dimly lit by overheard street lights, police said.

The man sustained fatal injuries at the scene. His was the 54th traffic fatality this year, compared to 57 fatalities at this time in 2012.
